Peter has experience in civil, commercial and insurance litigation. As the Managing Partner, he has a planned overview of the entire operations of the firm's practice, which includes Banking and Finance, Insurance, Corporate, Conveyancing and also the general administration of the firm. In these affairs, he is aided by Information Technology that he has boldly ventured into, so as to keep up with the efficiency of current market conditions. Advoc Asia and Advoc Europe are two associations with which Peter has established and nurtured a close relationship over the years. This relationship has generated numerous regional and cross border transactions for the firm and on behalf of the firm's clients. On a personal level Peter has involved himself with professional and social organizations as his contribution to the community. He served as a council member for The Law Society of Singapore for 4 years and chaired various sub-committees. He was a key member of the Professional Indemnity Sub-Committee that introduced Compulsory Professional Insurance for all practicing lawyers in Singapore in 1991. The master policy drawn by this committee has survived the test of time and is until today substantively the same model used by The Law Society of Singapore as the policy for the scheme of Compulsory Professional Insurance. Peter is a panel member of the Investigation Tribunal of The Law Society of Singapore. He also served in the Special Task Force of the Singapore Academy of Law. On 1 December 2000, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore accorded recognition to Mr Peter Madhavan as Honorary Consul of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in Singapore. On the social scene, he is a long-standing committee member of the Singapore Cricket Club, Captain of the Laguna National Golf and Country Club and a former Honorary Racing Steward of the Singapore Turf Club. He has retired from all robust sports after finally recognizing his age and now plays golf to a handicap of 16. |
